How to play Colordle
Colordle is a color guessing game played with names. Look at the target swatch, search a color name, and read the match percentage. Each guess brings a side-by-side reference into your history, helping you learn how familiar names relate to RGB colors.
Look at the target swatch
The large swatch is the color you need to name. Search a familiar color such as Blue, Teal or Rose. Choose a result with the mouse, or use the arrow keys and Enter. You can make as many unique guesses as you need.
Use the match percentage
This game calculates straight-line distance between red, green and blue channels. The score is 100 × (1 − distance ÷ √(3 × 255²)). Identical RGB values score 100%; black versus white scores 0%. Nonidentical colors are capped below 100%.
Find the exact color
Your history shows each color name, its swatch, hexadecimal value and percentage. This version has one accepted name for each color. Repeating the same color does not use another guess.
Choose a mode
Easy uses familiar basic names. Medium draws from the complete 184-color dictionary; hard excludes those basic easy targets. Daily colors follow this site’s own UTC seed. Color rendering varies with screens, settings and ambient light.
Daily puzzles and saved progress
Daily puzzles reset at midnight UTC and use this site’s independent version-one schedule. Switching modes keeps your current daily and practice progress separately. The game checks the UTC date while open and on returning to the page. Changing difficulty keeps a started puzzle and applies to the next puzzle. Completed daily results count once per date. Local records cover the last 50 finished puzzles and are not synced between devices.
Keyboard and touch
Focus the search field, type a name, move with the arrow keys and press Enter to submit a result. On touch devices, tap the result. The search is a complete alternative to direct diagram or map input.
